If the designer shows just a small sample of work, take it as a red flag of inexperience. Check out the logos mostly, if they are a right fit or not. If you’re in a high-tech industry, a designer who focuses primarily on retail clients might not understand your audience or be able to handle a learning curve.

Nothing works better than the client’s word of mouth. The same thing is applied to graphic designers. If the graphic designer you are considering hiring has a website, just go through the testimonial section and read the views that the former client of the graphic designer has regarding him and there you have got your answer.

The designer who looks beyond individual projects is likely better suited for the firm.
